i was meant to post these on blog last week.

It was a great honour to be invited to watch the whole process of honey harvesting from artificial bee hives at a fren's backyard.

there are 10 'films' of artificial bee hives in the two metal boxes. We can smell the sweet scent of honey from a distance. mm....


These are the films of beehives. My fren's uncle wore a suit covering from head to toe, he looks like a cute alien..haha! First of all, he smoked the metal boxes so that the bees thought it's fire and they will start flying away from the boxes. think they are that stupid? of course not, when they saw their beehives being taken, they were ferocious, the buzzing grew louder and more aggresive, you can feel the anger just by listening to the angry buzz.

hey, if it's me, ill feel angry too. I could never look honey the same again. A bee lives for 6 weeks and only produce a teaspoon of honey. Now, whenever i spread a table spoon of honey on my toast, i thought of the number of bees that i have eaten..


Fren's uncle scraped the beeswax off the film using a hot metal plate thingy and sweet honey oozed out..yumm...
We broke some chunks off and eat it there and then, fresh honey..it's heavenly!We cant swallow the wax and has to be spit out. It's not as sweet as the processed honey..by the way the ones that are sold in the supermarket which are processed have lost their nutrients! basically we are just eating sugar!


the films then went into a big white bucket and underwent a process which reminded me of centrifugation in chemistry. they are places into a metal compartment inside the bucket. A person has to turn the knob and through the turning pressure etc..(my physics..forces..pressure..bla bla have gone down the drain long time ago) the honey will flow out and accumulates at the bottom of the bucket. This is after the process where the honey has to go through the filter to filter out dead bees..poor bees

After that, we get to jar our own honey!! I bought 5! $5 for one jar, not expensive at all for a fresh honey packed with the nutrients!


This is one of the empty films after the whole centrifugation process. Look at the symmetrical hexagon the bees build! How wonderful is God's creation ei!

I wonder about the number of bees it takes to produce one jar of honey... *guilt creeping in*..but i will still eat it..
