work

quite disappointed with myself!

-dropped the cutlery in front of so many customers
-mixed up orders
-served the wrong tables
-cant hold 3 plates using one hand (it's a basic must to do this)
-slow in everything i do (one of the kitchen staff told me to do things quicker, the boss doesnt like it slow)
-insensitive to the kitchen bell, signaling that the food is ready to be serve, heard the female boss telling the kitchen ppl 'she cant hear the bell' in a frustrated tone
-my response a bit slow, cant really hear properly ( now i understand how frustrated jiun has felt)
-cant really function well under pressure, made more mistakes

seriously, i felt like i screwed everything up and felt like giving up! i was quite sure that at the end of the day, the bosses (one male and one female) gonna tell me that they dont want me! im so ready to accept that.

since there's a free staff meal, the one of the kitchen guys asked me which one i want..aiyoh..that moment i totally lost my appetite..i told him, nah, it's okay..i dont want any. He said it's okay, ill make a fried rice takeaway for you. before i could say anything, off i went to serve the customers! he really did make it. that's nice of him.

at the end of my shift, i expected the male boss to tell me that he doesnt want to hire me. But he taught me how to count the money and bill, then he gave me $35 for my 3.5 hours of work. I was delirious. At the back of my mind, i thought oh well, probably cause he doesnt want me, that's why he paid me. i didnt expect to be paid since it was another try out.

So far, he scheduled me for mon night once a week, but the schedule is not definite, subjected to change every week. Then we talked a bit, he taught me how to hold 3 plates on one hand, which i was grateful of. We talked some more bout his past. He's from China, 37 yrs old (but he looks 27, loves to drink and club and sing K) came here 19 yrs ago all alone, no money, no English. He shared about his experience then i told him about my lack of experience working in restaurants. he said it's alright, he'd rather that i made some mistakes (of course not big one) and learn from it rather than not make any. then he asked if i wanna go for a cuppa (for a cup of coffee). I said yeh, then we talked some more. the 2 kitchen guys joined us also. I wanna pay back, he told me not to be silly..he belanja me.

SOme more, he asked me if i know a girl named Helen who used to work there before after i told him i go to paradise church. He said she's one of his fav staffs, very warm and friendly, great personality. i knew her. and he's kinda excited bout that. phew, big responsibility, seems like i hv to really behave myself. cause from the way he told me, seems like he has good impression on christians cause of Helen i guess! woah, God help me!!!!

hmm, turns out to be not so bad after all. Im really excited to see what God has in store for me in this workplace, how He works and all. Somehow i believe im working there not by chance. I kinda felt sth when i sent in my resume before this.

i know it's gonna be tough, but, whatever la, maybe God wants me to be stronger through all these and potential experiences. what i know is, im not giving in to the discouragements so easily. Im gonna press on!!!!!
